I love romance books preferably with happy endings. I love watching movies, listening and discovering new music. Oh and this is my desperate attempt of putting up a Blog ;)

Review: Addicted to You

Addicted to You - Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie

This is one of those books that you can't read without cringing, swearing and continuously feeling these painful tugging in your chest. I personally found it really hard to read. The whole book was written entirely on Lily's POV. It was torture reading her binges, and if it weren't for the author's amazing portrayal of Lily's addiction I would have easily hated her for constantly choosing to sleep around rather than focusing her attention to Lo who was clearly enamored with her. I was really impressed by how the author handled writing Lily's internal struggles with her addiction that I can't help but sympathize with her and root for her to get well. I kept asking myself while reading the book if what's worse, being a sex addict or an alcoholic.

Sure it was clear that their relationship was doomed from the start if they can't properly deal with their addictions but that did not stop them from trying to be together. As I've said before, it was really hard to read Lily's internal struggles throughout their relationship. She was struggling with inappropriate thoughts that made me scared to think that she might act up on them and finally cheats on Lo. I kept thinking, NO! NO! STOP IT! it made me think if these were really what goes on through sex addicts' minds. It was terrifying.

The ending was inevitable and heart breaking. For me it was a little bit of a cliffhanger but not really a WTF cliffhanger moment, but rather a promise of a better future for the both of them. I wish that the next books include Lo's POV as well. I really what to know what goes through his head before their relationship began (It won't be pretty for sure).

Overall, I found another series favorite!! I LOVED IT!!! and can't wait for the next books. :)

Review: Animate Me

Animate Me - Ruth Clampett

~5+++ GEEKY STARS!!~

I love this book so much!! It's one of those books that you can't put down until you finish it. I finished it around 4am and can't sleep because of my book hangover. I'm really glad that I had the chance to read it. It made me want to read comic books and learn to draw! (even if I knew early on that I can't) :D

1. That there's always a comic/cartoon reference
2. The super cute nerd hero and his awkwardness
3. The DRAWINGS :) Love them.
4. Nathan's Dad. He's like a grown up Jimmy Neutron!
5. That for every chapter there were cartoon character quotes
6. The slow build up of their romantic relationship
7. Their equally geeky cool friends
8. Nathan's wooing ideas ♥

1. MOJO JOJO. :)

Shout out to Miss Construed's Reviews for the recommendation!! :)

Review: Living Again (Living Again #1)

Living Again - L.L. Collins

Living Again is a story of great loss, love and redemption. It's a story about Kayley, a pregnant widow who lost the love of her life due to an unfortunate circumstance and Ben who is a romantic, perfect doctor who has insecurities about himself because of his cheating ex-fiancee.

I gave it a 3-3.5 rating because it is little long for me and there were scenes that I could have live without. I'm not sure if the author just wants to lengthen her book more or if they have any significance in the story. I kept on waiting for a climatic scene to happen about 70% in the book but it just so happen that there was none and they've been living their HEA all throughout the book already. Don't get me wrong there was one minor blip in their relationship in about 55%+ of the book I think but that's it.

Also I can't get over how PERFECT and so UNREAL Ben's character is! I've been saying "Are you for real?" all throughout the book!

He's just so so so so perfect and romantic and I just don't know how to describe him! But to quote Kayley "God himself must live inside that man." It just seems to me that his character can't do no wrong.

Overall, it was an OK read for me.

Review: Finding Cinderella

Finding Cinderella - Colleen Hoover

Can it be possible that I loved Daniel & Six more than Holder & Sky?! Because I do!!! God Ms. Hoover where in the world do you get such amazing stories?? And can you please get more?!!

Review: Just One Year (Just One Day, #2)

Just One Year - Gayle Forman

I really loved the first book and was anxiously waiting for this to come out after the shocking cliffhanger in Just One Day. But it left me disappointed because I was hoping to have more of Lulu and Willem story TOGETHER. I get that we need to know Willem's journey to finding himself, but at least give me 1/4 of him and Lulu together!! not half of a page :(

Finished reading Bold Tricks

I'm so happy with the conclusion for this series.

Review: Painted Faces by L.H. Cosway

Painted Faces - L.H. Cosway

Come forth with an open mind, for an unconventional tale of love..

I’ll be honest I was kind of hesitant BUT intrigued after reading the blurb of this book. The prologue disturbed me a great deal that it had me clasping my mouth and made me unsure if I can continue. Some of the scenes reminded me of Jamie Bell’s obsession to his mother in the movie Hallam Foe. But that’s where the similarities end. This is an unusual tale of love wherein I found myself accepting, loving, crying, laughing, and rooting for the characters.

Freda/Fred, our heroine has a habit of blurting every inappropriate thing in her mind. I love her internal musings when she thinks she again spoke her mouth too soon without thinking. Being a little plump made her insecure of herself but she covers it with her snarky but funny comebacks.

Nicholas/Vivica Blue, our hot STRAIGHT drag queen.

What I loved about Nicholas was that he’s not ashamed of who he is and what he does. He has this passion and he made sure that he achieves it. His mother died when he was still a child and he only had exactly three memories of her. This caused him to retort by dressing up as a woman. He was also abused by a friend of his father, which made it hard for him to outgrow his obsession with the dresses and make-up.

“He turned being a boy into something that I couldn't stand, so that being a woman was my only escape.”

Even after Fred learned everything about Nicholas her love and respect for him did not waver instead it grew. But having no one to show him how to love and be loved Nicholas pushed her away.

It doesn't matter what he's wearing. I like the him that's underneath the clothes and the painted face. I'd like him no matter what he wore."

Sometimes we're cruellest to the ones we care about the most."

Since the beginning was in Nicholas’ POV it was fitting that the Epilogue ended with his thoughts too.

“He thinks of the little boy in the dress; the boy he used to be, a lost little boy. Now he can be a man in a dress, but he isn't lost. He has his golden eyed girl to lead his fractured soul through a world that once seemed dark and empty. In the present there's nothing but bright, wonderful sun light.”

“Her acceptance and love is something he didn't even realise he'd been searching for, but now that he has it he knows that he'd die if it got taken away from him. Every time he loses himself in her body, a little bit of the pain gets erased. She washes it away.”

What I loved most in this book is that it has a unique story that did not fail in execution. Because let’s be honest a lot of books these days have almost the same concept and what’s worst is the writing is plain meh which makes it more frustrating. But this book, aside from its original story, was amazing! It has the right amount of humor, drama and angst.

I LOVED IT. ****5 STARS****

In honor of my two most anticipated books for this month!!!

I’m currently in a bit of a reading slump funk

Nothing a little Breaking Bad won't heal.

Now let's see what the fuss is all about. :D"

Review: Red Hill

Red Hill - Jamie McGuire

**2 disappointing stars**

Expectations too high?

Red Hill was one of my most anticipated releases for this year. Having read The Warm Bodies (which I totally loved), I feel like this book doesn't have a unique story line when it comes to the usual zombie drama. Don’t get me wrong I love the writing, but I felt that the story was lacking of creativity and I only connected with Scarlet’s character ONLY in the beginning. Then I hated her for the latter part of the book. The beginning of the book had me on the edge of my seat then I slowly moved to get more comfortable because I was bored.

Red Hill was told in Scarlet, Nathan & Miranda’s POVs. Scarlet, a mother separated from her two daughters at the beginning of the book and made her life’s mission to find them again (sacrificing lives left and right). Nathan, a father searching for a safe place for his daughter. And Miranda (the slut ;D) searching for Red Hill with her group. Mind you that this book is a romance book too, so I had my hopes in romance since being left unsatisfied by the apocalyptic part. But then the romance part showed its ugly head in about 60%+ of the book!! This is where Nathan & Scarlet finally met. And boom! insta-love. Guess there is no build up there *rolling eyes*. I HATED Miranda’s character. She led me to believe that she loved Bryce. I really believe that Bryce genuinely love her. And then she met Joey. I had nothing against the guy, but realizing that Miranda has her eyes set on him and that cheating was bound to happen made me slowly hate him too. Sad, I know. But Cooper, I like. He was the only character in the book that I honestly loved.

And finally that ending. What kind of ending was that?!! Although I was happy that Miranda died, the ending was so unrealistic! I mean who would want to stay in a house on a hill where there was shortage of food and water, a place where your friends died or in Scarlet’s case sacrificed (hehe) and let’s not forget the creepers.

Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the lack of originality and creativity of the book. Maybe she could’ve made the zombie fly? or made them drive a car? lol. Wait can the zombies even run in this book?.
